Laser Acne Treatment Can Work For You

8 March 2010 No Comment

Do you suffer from moderate to severe acne and have not been able to find lasting relief from the myriad of acne treatment products available in your local supermarket or drugstore? Then perhaps laser acne treatments are for you. Multitudes of acne sufferers claim to have found the lasting results with acne laser treatment that they could not find anywhere else, and maybe it is the thing that will work for you as well.

Laser acne treatments remain a popular option to deal with acne because of the excellent results that are being achieved, and because of the painlessness that is generally associated with the procedure. The only negative in the equation is that the procedure is not that inexpensive, and it could end up costing you hundreds of dollars.

Many people wonder if all the hype is true and if laser acne treatments really work. Multitudes of former acne sufferers who have benefited from the treatment say that it does work, and that it works exceedingly well. In this FDA approved treatment, a beam of laser light is used to focus on, and treat, just the skin that has been damaged by the acne. This tightly focused treatment area insures that risks, complications, and side effects are kept to a minimum.

There are two main types of lasers used in treating acne today: a nonablative laser and a CO2 laser. Nonablative lasers are more for those who suffer from moderate, as opposed to severe, cases of acne. They are used to penetrate the layers of the skin and stimulate the growth of collagen, leading to better skin tone, a reduction in wrinkles and fine lines, and an improved appearance of the skin overall.

Then there is the CO2 laser, which is utilized for more extensive acne cases. With this laser, a beam of light is used to take away all the layers of acne damaged tissue, which will be replaced by newer, healthier tissue as healing takes place. This generally produces outstanding results, and many skin care experts are in agreement that there is no better acne treatment available to the acne sufferer today.

If there are any side effects to the laser acne procedure, they tend to be short lived and mild. These side effects can include irritation of the treated skin, redness and swelling. All in all, there are far less risks and complications associated with laser acne treatment than with some of the chemical treatments that many acne patients end up subjecting themselves to, with limited results.
